You got it! Poetry meme.
When you see this, post your favorite poem in your journal. As I was going up the stair I saw a man who wasn’t there He wasn’t there again today Oh, how I wish he’d go away... When I came home last night at three The man was waiting there for me But when I looked around the hall I couldn’t see him there at all! Go away, go away, don’t you come back any more! Go away, go away, and please don’t slam the door... (slam!) Last night I saw upon the stair A little man who wasn’t there He wasn’t there again today Oh, how I wish he’d go away -Hughes Mearns, "Antigonish" | | Thursday, December 18th, 2008 | | 8:32 pm |
Anyone ever work a job where they absolutely had to get things right the first time? It looks like that may be the kind of job I'm about to go into and I wanna know what to expect :/ | | Monday, December 8th, 2008 | | 11:04 pm |

Ye Olde Update Post
Well, hey, looks like I abandoned my personal LJ!!!!! I think it was in a large extent due to the fact that I noticed that those in undergrad who posted more had less of a life. So, for those of us who care, here's what's basically going on with me right now:
- I'm working on my Masters' in Public Administration at University of Chattanooga. My grades are fine.
- I live alone in an apartment adjacent to our state's second-largest shopping mall. Living alone tends on the creepy side at tiems.
- I'm listed as "it's complicated" on my Facebook. IM me to get details on this but be prepared for a long story. :P
- I wasn't going to go see Valkyrie on acount of Cruise but I saw the preview before Quatum of Solace and the sets look great, so I guess I'll do it.
- Oh, and Quantum of Solace was great.

Discuss.
If recent events teach us anything, it is that the law enforcement approach works at preventing terrorism, wheras the military approach exacerbates it. | | Sunday, October 30th, 2005 | | 1:43 pm |

I know my last entry was kind of weird. It was a thought I had to put down before it disappeared. Maybe I'll make it make more sense later. The basic message won't change, though. | | 4:34 am |
A personal revelation that has come to me is that those who are truly fighting the good fight are not fighting American corruption, Islamic corruption, Democratic corruption, Republican corruption, or corruption related to any other kind of faction. No. Those who stand for right living are fighting the negativity that is common among all people, including their own negativity. | | Saturday, November 27th, 2004 | | 12:51 am |
Met some old friends at the semifinals tonite. Boyd defeated, more like massacred the Coalfields. But I won't bother the readers with the details, except there was an excellent "up and down the field" passing run that led to a touchdown. But back to the friends. I saw Johnson, Gregg Baird, Melissa Warren, and Zack Atchley. Funny story about Zach- I thought he was Kevin Slatton for 20 minutes!!! He said "Hey Drew, what's going on?!?" I just kinda blanked him cause "I barely know Kevin". I still can barely believe it. Johnson's a history major, Gregg's a Journalism major, Zack's a Science and Religion major, esp. fascinating. I talked to him at Chili's after the game with the others about free will and Jungian psychology. But it's a funny story about Steak 'n Shake, we went there because that's where Gregg Baird suggested. I got there and found that Johnson's name was on the list tho' nobody was there. Gregg arrived in a few minutes as I was in the middle of a call to Chris trying to get Johnson's number. However, he soon bailed on us to go to Jeremiah's house. Within ten minutes, Taylor, Johnson, and Zack showed. Johnson said he didn't really wanna eat at Steak n' Shake or any fast food place, really. I told Johnson THREE TIMES that Gregg had bailed and on the third it finally registered. He called up Gregg and just gnawed his little butt out, pissed as hell. Or maybe he just ordered him to come over. I dunno, memory is a funny thing. So there Johnson is saying, "HE MAKES ME SO MAD!", and I'm just nonchalantly leaning against one of the newspaper machines, back to Gunbarrel Rd., saying, "Well, don't tell us about it!" To make a long story short, we finally went to Chili's and I didn't have to pay for anything. The waiter said the Dr. Pepper was no problem. Johnson said the chips and dip were no problem. A couple of people who shall remained unnamed showed up and made general pests out of themselves. I don't have a problem with drinking. I just don't like it when people think it's borderline hilarious that I don't. | | Friday, September 10th, 2004 | | 2:52 pm |

How can we know 2004 election results are genuine?
In light of the fact that there is a razor-thin margin between Bush and Kerry right now, and that e-voting machines as they are currently designed are very susceptible to fraud (indeed, there are no accesible records for some them), that Diebold, one of the largest manufacturers of e-voting machines is owned by a Republican that has given huge sums of money to the GOP, and that the Washington Post has uncovered what appears to be election fraud on Diebold machines in Florida in 2000, how can I as a Democrat trust the results of the 2004 election if Bush wins? I will not take "You would be a sore loser if you didn't" as an answer. http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Articles9/Thompson_Diebold-2000-Fraud.htmHere is the link about the possible election fraud in 2000. | | Sunday, January 18th, 2004 | | 8:56 pm |
A little messiness in the equation
Well, this being Sunday, I suppose the bulk of this update will be about religion. At church this morning I signed up for babysitting for some kind of new single mother class...it pays and you get to skip chapel. I'M NOT GAY I SWEAR!!! OK...anyone wanna join up with me in this class? After church this morning, I ate, then hang out and then watched the game with Emily. Sorry about the outcome, girl, but I admire your spirit. Tonight I went to an ecumenical church service at First Baptist, with all the churches (all the traditional Protestant ones of course, including church of Christ) united against racism, in honor of Dr. King. It was a great service. At the end the community anti-meth outreach was talked about. Meth (or maybe it was drugs in general) was labelled a "demonic force". Not that I disagree with this assessment, but I found it quite ironic that the night before, a person had told me that "(he) had never felt the true love of God" until he had a psychedelic experience. Thanks, Q, for recommending the Oxford Bible! I have recieved it and it is indeed quite excellent. There's more I could say but I hardly feel like this is the place that I could say it in...is a secret livejournal a possibility? That is a question I will have to answer with a definite maybe. | | Friday, January 16th, 2004 | | 10:48 am |
Thrown into the whirlwind...
Well, this is the beginning of my busyiest semester here at Harding, with me taking 16 hours. I've been to all my classes, and I think I'm going to love them. My Bible class is with Fortner, who is considered to be the most eccentric and intelligent professor on campus! He's one of the few professors I know to touch on the similarity between the Bible and Pagan myth. Or will he? It's too soon to say! I'm writing this entry during what would normally be his class, which is unfortunately cancelled. The other day I finally met Emily in person. It was such a weird thing, since we had only seen pictures of each other. I came over to the Stephens lobby, waited for a second, and when a girl came down the hallway three minutes later, I said "Are you Emily?" She just looked at me with a blank stare and said "Yeah, who are you?" In the end, our meeting turned out pretty well, I took her too Midnight Oil, where she met some of my pseudo-beatnik friends who had just returned from Italy. After meeting her I can say, she looks better in person than in her pictures, not to say that her pictures look bad. |
